Internal Scholarships

The Catherine Arthur-MacDonald Memorial Award for Language Development and Inclusive Education was established in 2026 to honour the life and enduring educational impact of Catherine Arthur MacDonald, recognizing her impact in speech-language pathology, inclusive education, language and communication, second-language acquisition, and work with students with exceptional needs—within the Faculty of Education at the University of Regina.

Eligibility

The award will be presented to a University of Regina graduate student who meets the following criteria:
- Pursing a graduate masters degree or PhD in Education at the University of Regina;
- Minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA ) of 80%;
- Registered and remains registered in a minimum of 6 credit hours in the semester the scholarship is presented;
- Is a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident; and
- Students must complete a written statement (up to 500 words) detailing the student's interest and proficiency in one or more of the areas in which Catherine Arthur‑MacDonald worked and taught — language and speech development; students with exceptional needs (including those who are deaf or hard‑of‑hearing); and the classroom inclusion of newcomers to Canada, other cultural communities, and minority groups. Evidence of such interest and proficiency may include, but is not limited to, classroom teaching experience(including practicum placements), research resulting in scholarly papers, theses, or other academic outputs, and volunteer work in a relevant setting.

Application Information

In addition, students will need to upload the following:

Evidence of such interest and proficiency may include, but is not limited to, classroom teaching experience(including practicum placements), research resulting in scholarly papers, theses, or other academic outputs, and volunteer work in a relevant setting.

- UP TO DATE Transcripts, which include CURRENT SEMESTER REGISTRATION. IMPORTANT: If you are an entrance student with no grades yet at the U of R, in addition to the unofficial transcript found in UR Self Service or the official transcript from MyCreds, you MUST also provide a copy of your last institution transcript along with the grading key in order to be considered. You must combine these documents into one and upload them.

All of these items are needed for an application to be considered complete.
