2026 Safety Shares
Safety & Health Week 2026
Safety and Health Week is an ideal time for students, faculty, and staff to focus on the importance of preventing injury and illness on our campuses, at home and in our communities.
Our April Safety Share provides ideas on how faculties, departments, and local safety committees can promote Safety and Health Week (May 4 to 9).
Each year on April 28, we remember those who have lost their lives, suffered injury or illness on the job, or experienced a work-related tragedy.
First Aid
At any moment, you or someone around you could experience an injury or illness. When you provide basic medical care to someone experiencing a sudden injury or illness, this is known as first aid.
Using basic first aid, you may be able to stop a minor mishap from getting worse. In the case of a serious medical emergency, you may even safe a life.
Be Prepared!
Battery Safety
Rechargeable batteries, especially lithium-ion batteries, can be found in many of the items we use each day--phones, laptops, tablets, power tools, ebikes, and equipment.
Knowing how to safely store, use, and dispose of these batteries both at home and on campus is just a click away.
Mental Health Tune Up
It's that time of year! The holiday season is over and a new year begins to take shape. We find ourselves reflecting, making resolutions, and planning for all the changes we would like to see in the months ahead.
Amid all of this, there is one thing that is often overlooked -- our mental health!
