Connect

One-on-One Mentorship Program

Build professional connections and prepare for your future career.

Application deadline: September 21

Your classes help you build business knowledge. A mentor can help you explore how that knowledge connects to your goals, your career, and the realities of the workplace.

Hill Levene Connect is a non-credit, seven-month mentorship program that matches Hill Levene students (mentees) with industry professionals (mentors) for one-on-one professional guidance. Mentors and mentees commit to meeting for a minimum of one hour each month.

Through regular conversations with your mentor, you can ask questions, explore career possibilities, set goals and gain practical insights from someone with real-world experience.

Because the number of participating mentors is limited, this is a selective opportunity. Completing the application does not automatically guarantee a place in the program, but you do not need the highest grades, an extensive résumé or previous involvement in student organizations to be considered.

You may also have the opportunity to earn a Centre for Experiential and Service Learning (CESL) Mentorship digital badge by completing the program requirements.

Is This Program Right for You?

Who can apply?

Hill Levene Connect is open to:

  • Hill undergraduate business students in their third year or higher
  • Levene graduate business students
  • Second-year Hill students, who may be considered if space is available

You don't have to be the "perfect" student.

Many students hesitate to apply because they think they need an impressive résumé, a high GPA or leadership experience. You don't.

We're looking for students who can explain why mentorship matters to them and who are ready to make the most of the opportunity.  If you're curious, motivated and willing to invest in your own growth, we encourage you to apply.

A few things to know before you apply

Tips for a Strong Application

Hill Levene Connect is intentionally small so every student can be thoughtfully matched with the right mentor. Because of this, submitting an application does not guarantee a place in the program.

When completing your application:

  • Give specific and thoughtful answers
  • Explain what you hope to learn or better understand
  • Identify personal or professional goals you would like to work toward
  • Describe any questions, decisions or challenges a mentor could help you explore

The strongest applications aren't necessarily from the students with the longest résumés, they're from students who help us understand why this opportunity could make a difference in their lives.

What Will Be Expected of You?

Mentorship is a two-way relationship. Your mentor will contribute their time, experience and guidance, but you will be responsible for taking an active role in the experience.

As a mentee, you will be expected to:

  • Attend the required virtual onboarding and networking session
  • Take the lead in contacting your mentor and scheduling meetings
  • Prepare questions or discussion topics before each meeting
  • Maintain regular and professional communication
  • Respect your mentor’s time, boundaries and confidentiality

Secure Your Digital Badge

Students will have the opportunity to earn the Mentorship digital badge offered by CESL upon completion of the program. To be eligible, students will need to attend two of the 10K Cups of Coffee meetings and complete the Leadership Workshop Series offered by CESL in addition to the Hill Connect Program.

What This Program Does Not Guarantee

Hill Levene Connect is designed to support your personal and professional development through mentorship. Participation does not guarantee:

  • Employment or Internship Opportunities: Mentors are not participating as recruiters. Students must not ask mentors for employment or internship opportunities.
  • Academic Credit or Advancement: Hill Levene Connect is an optional, non-credit program and does not affect your academic standing or progress.
  • Professional References: While some mentors may choose to provide a reference, this is entirely at their discretion and should not be expected.
