Are you an international student arriving for the winter 2021 or spring/summer 2021 semester? Housing Services is here and happy to accommodate you! Please see the below information to help you prepare for your arrival.

Am I required to self-isolate upon arrival?

According to the Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) “international students who are exempt from air travel restrictions will undergo the necessary health checks and must isolate for 14 days upon arrival in Canada. They must isolate for 14 days even if they have no symptoms. This is mandatory.”

All travellers returning from international destinations – including the United States – are subject to a mandatory self-isolation order. Violation of the order may result in a $2,000 fine.”

Will the University of Regina accommodate me for my self-isolation?

Can I live on-campus after my 14 day self-isolation?

Yes! Students are welcome to stay here for their 14 day self-isolation and continue with a long-term housing contract as well! To apply for student housing, please visit: https://www.uregina.ca/housing/apply/index.html

Is there a cost for self-isolation? 

If you are staying with us as a part of your 4 or 8 month housing contract, the room will be provided as a part of your contract. If you arrive early, early arrival fees may apply. 

Student who have accepted a Housing Contract for after their self-isolation are required to purchase a meal plan during their 14 day- self isolation. The cost for this is $525. This includes 19 meals per week. We can accomodate dietary resterctions and allergies.

If you are not planning to live on campus for the fall 2020 semester, the room will be provided at a cost of $1,035.05 (taxes and meals included - see food section for more information regarding meals) for the 2 week isolation period.  Additional days, if needed, are available for $29.25 + tax per day.  (The two week rate includes move-out cleaning fees)

All requests for self-isolation accommodations and meals must be pre-paid by credit card prior to arrival.

The meal plan is mandatory during your self-isolation at the Universtiy of Regina! We can accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies. 

Hospitality Services will help the resident arrange their meals, and will deliver each to their room. 

What room type will I be in for my self-isolation? Most students will be placed in a single bed, dorm-style room with a private washroom.  If you are living on-campus in the fall 2020 semester and your apartment style room is vacant, we may be able to place you in your fall room. 
How do I keep my room clean during self-isolation? Due to COVID-19 precautionary measures, students will be responsible for the cleaning and upkeep of their room during the isolation period. A cleaning kit will be supplied by Housing. Garbage pickup schedule will be prearranged with Housing Services.
How do I get to the University of Regina from the airport? All students must take a taxi from the airport to Kisik Towers at the University of Regina. Airport pick up is not permitted by University staff due to COVID-19 precautions.

What supplies should I bring for my self-isolation?

  • Face masks (do not re-use)
  • Eye protection (face shield/goggles)
  • Displosable gloves
  • Tissues
  • Alcohol prep wipes
  • Over the counter medication to reduce fever (ie. acetaminiphen) and any other prescription medications
  • Hand soap 
  • 60% alcohol-based hand sanitizer 
  • Dish Soap 
  • Laundry Soap 
  • Household cleaning products
  • Enough clothing/items to get through 14 days in isolation without having access to laundry
  • Arrange meals through Housing Services or grocery delivery through local grocery store

What items are included in the room for my self-isoatlion?

  • Private bedroom with private washroom
  • Bed with sheets, blankets and pillow
  • Desk and chair
  • Dresser 
  • Bathroom with shower, toilet and sink 
  • Toilet paper
  • Towels and face cloths
  • Cleaning kit and garbage bags
  • Microfridge (mini fridge and microwave)
  • Running water
