Area of Focus: Playwriting, Dramaturgy, Theatre History

Arthur Milner is a playwright and theatre director. He has a long association with Ottawa’s Great Canadian Theatre Company where he was Artistic Director and Resident Playwright. He has taught playwriting and theatre history theatre at Concordia and Carleton universities, University of Ottawa, University of Calgary, and the University of Regina. He writes on politics and culture for inroadsjournal.ca. He now lives in Regina where his wife, Jennifer Brewin, is Artistic Director of Globe Theatre. 

 His play Tommy and Père, premiered in March 2025 at the Saskatchewan Science Centre in Regina, produced by Curtain Razors, directed by Judy Wensel. Weyburn 1959 is in development by Architecture Theatre, scheduled for production in 2026. 

Getting to Room Temperature — “a hard-hitting, sentimental and funny one-person play about death” — premiered in Ottawa in 2016 and toured British Columbia in 2017. He performed the play in a 2022 production by Regina’s Curtain Razors; and a French translation (Souffler la veilleuse) was produced by Saskatoon’s La Troupe du jour in January 2025.  

Facts, a murder mystery set in the West Bank, premiered in Ottawa in 2010 and has been produced in London, U.K.; Istanbul (in Turkish); and has toured Palestine and Israel (in Arabic). It was also produced as an online presentation by Regina’s Globe Theatre in 2002, directed by Rania Alharthi.
