Release Date: September 19, 2025 3:43 PM
The University of Regina (U of R) and the Regina Medical Staff Association (RMSA) have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that formalizes a commitment from both organizations to explore and pursue a variety of joint opportunities.

“Through this agreement, the U of R and the RMSA will collaborate on a variety of initiatives to advance our organizations’ shared objectives and mutual interests – initiatives such as experiential learning opportunities for students, professional development opportunities for RMSA members, and health-related research collaborations,” says Dr. Jeff Keshen, University of Regina President and Vice-Chancellor. “We look forward to collaborating with our RMSA colleagues on these and many other projects to enhance educational, professional, and research outcomes in Saskatchewan for years to come.”

The key areas of collaboration include:

· Access to University Facilities – Access to designated University facilities, including but not limited to classrooms, fitness facilities, and Darke Hall.

· Educational and Professional Development Events – Joint organization, invitation, and participation in workshops, lectures, seminars, and other professional events.

· Experiential Learning Opportunities – Facilitation of internships, practicums, co-op placements, and other experiential learning opportunities for students.

· Collaborative Research Initiatives – Engagement in mutually beneficial research activities, with particular emphasis on health-related research projects.

· Cross-Appointments – Explore the possibility of cross-appointments between the Parties, as deemed appropriate and in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.

“The Regina medical staff Association represents approximately 800 physicians in the Regina region,” says Dr. Ankit Kapur, Regina Medical Staff Association President. “In the interest of creating more opportunities for physicians, we are ecstatic about our partnership with the University of Regina and look forward to years of growth and collaboration ahead.”

Both organizations have committed to open and transparent communication, shared use of resources where appropriate, and mutual recognition of each other’s contributions.
