I graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 2008 with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. I became licensed as Saskatchewan’s first Paediatric Nurse Practitioner in December of 2014. This followed the completion of a Masters in Nursing and Paediatric Nurse Practitioner program through the University of Toronto. I worked as a RN Paediatric Intensive Care Unit in Saskatoon, including being on the Paediatric Transport Team (PTT), which is based out of the PICU. The PTT consists of a RN and Respiratory Therapist who travel throughout Saskatchewan to assess, manage, stabilize, and transport paediatric patients back to Saskatoon or other tertiary care hospitals throughout Western Canada. Presently, I practice as a NP in Paediatric Haematology, where I work closely with a Paediatric Haematologist. The specific group of patients I manage are the haemoglobinopathies (sickle cell anemia and thalassemia) and thrombophilia (children with blood clots). Prior to nursing, I had a misspent young adulthood in biological and environmental sciences. I also worked as a Primary Care Paramedic in Alberta.
