Meet our newest adjunct faculty member, Dr. Jane Breen!
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics is pleased to welcome Dr. Jane Breen as our newest adjunct faculty member!
As an assistant professor of applied mathematics from Ontario Tech University in Oshawa, Ontario, Dr. Breen is an esteemed researcher in the fields of combinatorial matrix theory, linear algebra, and their applications. After earning a Bachelor’s of Arts in Mathematics at Maynooth University in Ireland, she pursued her Ph.D. at the University of Manitoba under the supervision of Dr. Steve Kirkland where she studied Markov chains under combinatorial constraints. Her successful doctoral program awarded her a postdoc position at Iowa State University under the sponsorship of Dr. Steve Butler.
While Dr. Breen’s research interests are focused on Markov chains and random walks on graphs, she has a (newly found) interest in network science as well as in spectral graph theory. Her recent publications include topics on Kemeny’s constant, Hadamard diagonalizable graphs, and zero forcing.
Welcome to the department, Dr. Breen!
