Daniel’s research interests include child welfare, the health and well-being of 2SLGBTQ+ and migrant youth, resistance in parent-adolescent interactions, and how young people grow in the context of parent-adolescent relationships. He holds a PhD in social work with a sub-specialization in Measurement, Evaluation, and Research Methodology from the University of British Columbia. He has completed a postdoctoral fellowship on the healthcare information needs of trans, Two-Spirit and nonbinary youth and a postdoctoral fellowship with the Stigma and Resilience Among Vulnerable Youth Centre on the health and wellbeing of migrant youth in Canada. He has experience conducting research in child welfare and currently serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Adolescence. He holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees in social work with a specialization in child welfare and has six years of direct frontline child welfare practice experience, as well as two years of practice analyst experience working with British Columbia’s Aboriginal Services Branch.
