Stephanie is a professor in the bilingual stream and teaches in both French and English. Her research focuses on the body in social work, an interest nourished by her studies in Theatre Performance (BFA, Concordia University), Creative Art Therapies (MA, Concordia University) and Social Work (MSW, PhD. University of Ottawa). Her time as a second language teacher shaped her understanding of language acquisition, child and adolescent development, as well as family systems. Her practice as a medical social worker has informed her research on the lived experience of illness and how these are influenced, in part, by the systems and structures in which people seek care. Her recent research explored the integration of running into processes of recovery from substance-based addictions. She is interested in embodied, art and sports-based approaches to psychosocial intervention, as well as the development of mobile research methods like running interviews.
