Strategic Planning

A Message from the President

I am pleased to announce the completetion of the University of Regina's 2026-2035 Strategic Plan.

Entitled Together, We Serve, the new plan emerges from broad, inclusive consultation with students, faculty, staff, alumni, Indigenous partners, and community stakeholders. It reflects the shared values and collective ambition of the University and all of our partners, as well as a commitment to listening, learning, and working together.

I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone from across our campuses and the Federated Colleges who participated in the various stages of the strategic planning process over the past several months. That includes the steering committee, consisting of:

- Dr. Aziz Douai – Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research (Chair);
- Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, Associate Professor & Canada Research Chair, Faculty of Media Arts & Performance;
- Whitney Blaisdell, PhD Student, Faculty of Education;
- Marc Butikofer, Executive Director, University Advancement;
- Dr. Nick Carleton, Professor, Faculty of Arts;
- Dr. Marcel Decoste, Professor, Faculty of Arts;
- Dr. Margot Hurlbert, Professor & Canada Research Chair, Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy;
- Jenna Ives, Research Engagement Manager, Office of Research Services;
- Anne Lauf, Director, Finance and Administration, Hill Levene School of Business;
- Dr. Zisis Papandreou, Professor, Faculty of Science; and
- Dr. Nathalie Reid, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Education.

Also integral to the process were Project Manager Nancy Akwen and primary writer Dr. Lynn Gidluck, to whom we owe a debt of thanks.

To learn more and to view the plan, I encourage you to visit the 2026-2035 Strategic Plan website.

Yours sincerely,

Jeff Keshen
President and Vice-Chancellor

Commuity Engagement and Timeline

Over the past year, a variety of consultation sessions were conducted within and outside of the U of R campus. Below is a high-level view of the development timeline.

Consultation Sessions

Opportunities for feedback and engagement via meetings, surveys, online meetings, and social media were announced throughout Spring/Summer and Fall 2025 and the details were posted on the schedule below.

The consultation process included the following engagement activities:

  • Come & Go Sessions:
    • These sessions provide the opportunity for faculty, staff, students, and the community to offer general input about what they would like to see in the 2026 and beyond University of Regina Strategic Plan. The format of these sessions will be open and continuous with no formal presentation, allowing participants to come & go. If you are not able to attend, input can be provided anytime by e-mail.
  • Townhall Sessions:
    • These sessions will be organized in a town hall style where participants will be given the opportunity to travel around the room and join conversations that focus on specific topics/questions related to the strategic plan.
