Pizza and Information Night

On February 10th the Office of Sustainability hosted a pizza and information night in the Kisik towers multipurpose room. The event was a success, with approximately 20 students joining us for delicious pizza and an engaging evening focused on waste reduction and sustainability.

As a part of our Sort It Right- U of R campaign we shared key findings from the 2025 Riddell Centre waste audit, including the impact of contamination and the opportunity to divert more waste from landfill. Students learned how waste is sorted on campus, how to properly separate landfill, recycling, and organics, and why correct sorting plays an important role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The evening also provided space for questions, discussion, and practice of sorting commonly misplaced items such as pizza boxes, coffee cups, and food containers. Bag to Earth compost bags were also provided to any students interested in starting their own composting at home. Events like this help build awareness, strengthen sustainable habits, and empower students to make informed choices in residence and across campus.

Special thanks to Housing and Hospitality Services and Trifon’s Pizza for their support in making this event possible. Thank you as well to everyone who attended, stay tuned for more Sort It Right- U of R events!
