Scholarships

Your education is a valuable investment, and planning your finances will be an important part of your success. We offer a range of scholarships and awards to help fund your education and support you on your academic journey. All international undergraduate students who apply for admission are automatically considered for the following entrance awards based on your admission average - no application is required! 

Entrance Awards

International Entrance Scholarship

$5,000

  • All international students applying to an undergraduate degree program will be automatically considered.
  • Students must have an admission average of 83% or higher.
  • Students will receive $5,000 in tuition credit applied to their first registered term.
  • The increased value of this award will take effect for students starting in the Fall 2026 term onward.
International Student of Distinction Scholarship: Tier 1

$90,000 ($22,500 x 4 years) Approximate Value of Campus Housing and Meal Plan

  • All international students applying to an undergraduate degree program directly from high school will be automatically considered. Applications and required supporting documents must be received by the deadlines below.
  • International students selected for Tier 1 will be awarded on-campus housing and a meal plan which is valued at $90,000 over 4 years. This is not a tuition credit scholarship. 
  • Students must have a minimum early conditional or overall final high school average of 90% (converted to Canadian grading scale).
  • This award is renewable for up to 3 years (3.5 years for Engineering students) of a student's degree program as long as students continue to complete 24 credit hours per calendar year and maintain a minimum UGPA of 80%.
International Student of Distinction Scholarship: Tier 2

$45,000 ($11,250 x 4 years) Approximate Value of Campus Housing

  • All international students applying to an undergraduate degree program directly from high school will be automatically considered. Applications and required supporting documents must be received by the deadlines below.
  • International students selected for Tier 2 will be awarded on-campus housing which is valued at $45,000 over 4 years. This is not a tuition credit scholarship.
  • Students must have a minimum early conditional or overall final high school average of 85-89.99% (converted to Canadian grading scale).
  • This award is renewable for up to 3 years (3.5 years for Engineering students) of a student’s degree program as long as students continue to complete 24 credit hours per calendar year and maintain a minimum UGPA of 80%.
International Student of Distinction Scholarship Deadlines

Application Deadlines

To be considered for the International Student of Distinction Scholarship, students need to apply and submit all required supporting documents by the following deadlines:

Fall Term April 30
Winter Term September 30
Spring/Summer Term January 30

 

If you are currently in your last year of high school, you can still apply for early conditional admission with your in-progress high school transcript. If you are conditionally admitted to the University of Regina, you must submit your final high school transcripts when available, and your final overall average must continue to meet the minimum requirements for the scholarship.

 

Housing Deadlines

Students who are selected for the International Student of Distinction Scholarship will need to meet the conditions outlined in their letter of acceptance and apply for on-campus housing by the following deadlines:

Fall Term June 15
Winter Term November 15
Spring/Summer Term February 15

International Undergraduate Student Bursary

Bursary Value

$20,000 ($5,000 x 4 years) Tuition Credit

Students can receive a tuition credit of up to $20,000 over 4 years. This is a savings of approximately 15% of the total degree cost!

Bursary Requirements

This bursary is available to new international undergraduate students admitted to the Winter 2026 term onwards. Students do not need to apply for this bursary. The UR International office will assess and notify all eligible students each term.

  • Must be an international student admitted to a 4-year undergraduate degree program and paying international tuition fee rates.
  • Students must deposit payment of two years tuition to the University of Regina. The amount required is according to the one year tuition fee stated on the student's acceptance letter. (Example $32,500 CAD x 2 years= $65,000 CAD). The deposit should be made in advance of applying for the study permit.
  • Students must complete their first year (3 terms) of full-time study at the University of Regina and register in the following academic term.
  • Students will receive a $5,000 tuition credit to their student financial account once the above conditions are met.
  • The tuition credit will be issued after the add/drop date of the assessment term has passed.
  • Note that the tuition credit will not be issued until after the student completes their first year of studies.
Bursary Renewal

If a student meets the conditions outlined above, they can continue to receive the $5,000 bursary each year of their studies as long as they:

  • Completed full-time studies in the preceding year.
  • Are currently registered for the next academic term.
  • Are not owing any tuition fees to the University of Regina.

If a student meets the renewal conditions every year of their degree, they could receive up to $20,000 in tuition credit over 4 years.

International Student of Distinction Scholarship
