Meet Our Globalink Research Interns

I'm someone who enjoys the simple things, like reading books that make me question reality, trying to stay fit despite a long-term love affair with dessert, and spending time with friends and family (who think I explain tech like I'm pitching a TED Talk). I'm always up for deep conversations, unexpected adventures, or just figuring out how the world works, one rabbit hole at a time. I like to think of myself as a curious mind with a mild addiction to learning and a talent for turning chaos into clarity (on good days, at least). Life's too short to take everything seriously. Except coffee. Coffee is serious business.

Hi! I'm Johabeth S. Garrido, a third-year Earth Sciences student from UNAM in Mexico City and this summer, I'll be a Mitacs GRI student at University of Regina.
My academic journey blends geology and geophysics with scientific communication and fieldwork. At UNAM, I've worked as a Teaching Assistant in Mineralogy and as a Research Intern at the Institute of Geology, developing laboratory skills and experience with geophysical methods like GPR and electrical resistivity.
I take a multidisciplinary approach to Earth Sciences, combining technical expertise in data analysis and programming (Python, R) with public engagement. I've served as a museum guide, presented at scientific symposiums, and even won recognition for an AI-based energy analysis system for Antarctic stations.
When not in the field or lab, I create scientific illustrations and give geoscience workshops for children.
