About Us

Nurse Practitioners (NPs) are registered nurses with additional education and nursing experience which provides them with the legal scope of practice to:

  • Autonomously diagnose and treat illnesses
  • Order and interpret tests
  • Prescribe medication
  • Perform minor surgical procedures
  • Refer to specialists
  • NPs are health care professionals who treat the whole person which includes:
    • Addressing physical, mental, emotional needs
    • Focusing on how an illness affects a person’s life and family
    • Offering ways for a person to lead a healthy life
    • Collaborating with the person to manage chronic illness (asthma, diabetes, mental health etc) as well as episodic illness (coughs, colds, flu, sexual health concerns such as contraception, skin conditions etc)
