The Project Management Certificate is designed to meet the professional development needs of both experienced project managers facing new challenges and novice managers who are new to project management.
Based on the official Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Version 6 and 7) published by the Project Management Institute (PMI®), you can be assured you are learning the most up-to-date best practices and lead by our expert project management instructors. You will gain the knowledge, skills, models and methods needed to be a successful project manager. Plus, if you’re looking to maintain your PMP designation, you can take the certificate or its courses to meet your annual PDU (professional development unit) requirements.

Project Management Certificate
The Project Management Certificate is for you, whether you are just starting out, are mid-career or are already an established leader looking to upskill. Build a foundational set of project management skills that includes project planning, execution, risk management and leadership to take your career to the next level.
For those with project management experience
- If you're interested in pursuing further certification, such as the PMP (project management practitioner) designation, this Certificate provides a solid foundation and satisfies some of the educational requirements for these advanced certifications.
- For certified PMPs, each course counts as 14 PDUs (professional development units), helping you meet the educational requirements of your PMP designation. The 5-day intensive course counts as 35 PDUs.
CAPM® Exam Preparation Course
- Prepare yourself for the PMI's® CAPM® exam and earn your Certified Associate in Project Management designation.
- Use the CAPM® Prep Course to meet the educational requirements to write PMI's exam.
PMP® Exam Preparation Course
- Get ready to ace your PMP® exam by preparing with the PMP® Exam Prep Course.
- Gain an understanding of the exam format, get exam tips and get access to practice exams and quizzes.
- Practicing PMPs earn 35 PDUs (professional development units)
- Includes the PMBOK® Guide Bundle (Project Management Body of Knowledge Editions 6 and 7 and the Agile Practice Guide)
Project Management Certificate Requirements
To complete the Centre for Continuing Education Project Management Certificate, you will complete 7 courses in the areas of project planning and scheduling; project value management; project risk and uncertainty management; project quality processes and management; stakeholder, team and communication performance; and a project management practicum.
The Fundamentals of Project Management Principles course should be taken first in the program and the Project Management Practicum is taken last.
All courses are offered in either in-person over 2 days or remote over three half-days.
Fast-Track Option
There is a fast-track option where you can complete 3 of the required courses in a 5-day intensive. To take the intensive, you must first complete two courses: the Fundamentals of Project Management Principles and Project Planning and Scheduling.
Plus, for those studying in person in Prince Albert, SK, take advantage of an additional 3-day intensive option to complete two courses in three days - Fundamentals of Project Management Principles and Planning and Scheduling.

Accreditation
- The Project Management Certificate follows the Project Management Institute's (PMI®’s) PMBOK (Project Management Book of Knowledge) on which the Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is based on.
- Use the Project Management Certificate to help you prepare for the PMP exam. (HOURS CONTRIBUTE?)
- Courses also count as PDUs (professional development units) towards the annual training requirements for the PMP and CAPM. Each course counts as 14 PDUs and the 5-day intensive counts as 35 PDUs.
- Course hours can be used towards the Canadian Construction Association Gold Seal Certification application for credits, subject to credit approval upon review.
Flexibility
- Take the certificate online or in person at the historic and conveniently located College Avenue Campus in Regina.
- Designed to be completed at your own pace, complete the Project Management Certificate in as little as 4 months or take up to 3 years. Each course is either 2 in-person days or 3 half-days online, so you can fit courses into your busy schedule.
- Take advantage of the Fast-Track Option and complete 3 of the required courses in just 5 days.
- Take courses on their own as stand-alone professional development opportunities.
- Want to keep learning and leveling up? Some courses in the Project Management Certificate apply to other certificates or microcertificates as well!
Access Funding
- University of Regina Alumni Association (URAA) Professional Development Award ($500 per term) is available to all U of R alumni, including those who have completed Continuing Education professional certificates or microcertificates.
- Canada Training Credit is a refundable tax credit providing access to $250 each year with unused amounts carried forward to future years for a maximum lifetime amount of $5,000.

Instructor Highlight
Shari Hildred, PMP
Shari Hildred has over 20 years of management and project experience in the private, public, and non-profit sectors. She shares her expertise in leadership, project management, and communications courses as a Professional Development instructor and facilitator with the U of R. She has delivered customized training for many organizations including the Public Services Commission, the Ministries of Health, Economy, Agriculture and Education, as well as SaskPower, the RCMP and the Red Circle Planning Group.
Shari is certified as a PMP by PMI®, studied Cultural Resource Management at the University of Victoria and completed the Art of the Executive Leader training at Banff Centre for the Arts. She studied Public Policy at the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy and has completed GBA+ training.
Her passion for heritage was recognized with a City of Regina Municipal Heritage Award and a Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan Heritage Architecture Excellence Award for outstanding contributions.

Courses are offered remote or in person.
Remote courses are delivered as three half-day sessions in one week. In-person courses at the College Avenue Campus are usually two consecutive full days.
The Certificate can be completed in as little as four months, or you can take up to three years, part-time.

In-person courses are located in the College Building on the College Avenue Campus at 2155 College Avenue.
Parking
Paid parking is available in the parking lots located on the south side of the College Building. Parking is $2/hour. You can pay to park using the pay stations located in the parking lot and in the main entrance of the College Building or by downloading the PayByPhone app or visiting paybyphone.com. The following information is required to set up an account:

At our in-person courses, we provide the essentials you need to have a productive learning experience. We provide:

The University of Regina and the Centre for Continuing Education reserves the right to cancel courses or programs due to insufficient registration or other unforeseen events. If this occurs, participants will be given every opportunity to transfer into another course or refunds will be issued. Decisions regarding withdrawal and/or refunds may be appealed to the Dean, Centre for Continuing Education.
The University is closed on all statutory holidays and between December 24 and January 1.
