CEGEP Student

If you graduated high school in Quebec, and are enrolled at a CEGEP, you can apply as a high school student.  If you have more than one year of CEGEP, you may qualify for some transfer credit. Applicants with one year of CEGEP will be assessed for admission based on required high school courses below.  Applicants who have completed more than one year of CEGEP, or one year of CEGEP plus additional post-secondary courses elsewhere, may be assessed as a post-secondary applicant and meet the required minimum admission average.

Official transcripts must come to the University of Regina directly from the issuing institution (i.e.: CEGEP Registrar’s Office).  If you have attended other post-secondary institutions (including a Polytechnic, College, or University), we require an official transcript from each institution.

English Language Proficiency
The language of instruction at the University of Regina is English. All applicants to the University of Regina must therefore demonstrate an appropriate level of proficiency in the English language, unless they are entering the Baccalaureate en education program, in which case they must meet the French language proficiency requirement. 12 Academic courses from CEGEP studies including:
• Two 603 English or 601 French courses
• Two approved language, math, science, or social science courses
• Eight additional academic subjects

Note: The following subjects are also required for the below faculties/programs in place of the same number of additional academic courses:

Business Administration: Two 201 Math courses
Economics: Two 201 Math courses
Education (Secondary with Math or Physics Minor or Major): Two 201 Math courses
Education (Secondary with Chemistry Minor or Major): Two courses numbered in the 202 Chemistry series, and two courses numbered in the 203 Physics series
Engineering: Two approved 201 Math courses, two courses numbered in the 202 Chemistry series, and two courses numbered in the 203 Physics series
Kinesiology (Bachelor of Kinesiology): Two approved 201 Math courses, and either two courses numbered in the 101 Biology series, 202 Chemistry series, or two courses numbered in the 203 Physics series
Nursing: Two 201 Math courses
Science: Two 201 Math courses, and two of either two courses numbered in the 101 Biology series, 202 Chemistry series, or two courses numbered in the 203 Physics series

Applicants with the CEGEP requirements above will require the admission averages below:

Arts: 70%
Business: 70%
Education: 65%
Engineering & Applied Science: 90% (for major of choice), 70% (for general systems 1st year)
Kinesiology & Health Studies: 70%
La Cite universitaire francophone: 65%
Media, Art, and Performance: 65%
Nursing: 70% (in each course)
Science: 70%
Social Work: 70%

Applicants with the CEGEP requirements above, plus an additional minimum 15 credit hours of approved post-secondary (24 credit hours for Faculty of Science applicants) will be assessed on the post-secondary admission averages below for either the most recent 30 credit hours, or the full academic record:

Arts: 60%
Business: 65%
Education: 65%
Engineering & Applied Science: 65% (for general systems 1st year)
Kinesiology & Health Studies: 60%
La Cite universitaire francophone: 60%
Media, Art, and Performance: 65%
Nursing: 65% (competitive entry based on average)
Science: 65%
Social Work: 70% or completion of Bachelor’s degree

Final official transcript deadlines:
Fall term deadline for early conditionally admitted students – August 1
Fall term – August 15
Winter term – January 1
Spring/summer term – May 1

Deadline for off-campus students** – last day to add courses without permission in all terms

* The early application deadline is the recommended deadline to ensure the best course selection options, in addition to the deadline for entrance awards

**Off-campus students are students taking courses through regional colleges or the First Nations University of Canada Prince Albert and Saskatoon campuses
