Speaker- Mr. Gary Bosgoed

The next speaker in the Insight series is Gary Bosgoed, Senior Vice-President & Location Manager for WorleyParsons.  Mr. Bosgoed will present "Entrepreneurship & Community Engagement: The Power of Doing Business Locally/Globally."

Mr. Bosgoed will talk about how to engage both globally and locally when undertaking capital projects.  The presentation will show how Saskatchewan and Alberta expertise are exported around the world.  It will discuss how to work with the local communities globally and how partnerships can be forged with stakeholders to achieve success.


Biography:

Gary Bosgoed, P.Eng. is an Industrial Systems Engineer (B.A.Sc.) with thirty-five years’ experience in management, management consulting and consulting engineering. 

After serving as President and owner of a western Canadian engineering, procurement and construction/construction management company, Gary took on a senior management position in the Edmonton office of Colt Engineering Corporation in 2005.  Acquired by WorleyParsons in 2007, the company provides EPC/EPCM services on hydrocarbons, power, minerals metals & chemicals and infrastructure and environment projects globally.   Gary is Senior Vice President and Location Manager of WorleyParsons’ Edmonton location with approximately 2,300 personnel in eight business units.

Mr. Bosgoed has successfully developed and led several business expansions in EPCM, industrial engineering, environmental consulting, geographic information systems and telecommunications. He was also a founder and Director of two companies; Circle Energy, publicly-traded oil and Gas Company and a Western Canadian Internet Service Provider. Over the past decade, Gary has also brokered unique sector-focused partnerships with private and public sector corporations to undertake innovative projects.

Mr. Bosgoed is a well-known public speaker, community leader and business mentor/coach. In 2003, he was the recipient of the National Aboriginal Achievement Award in Business and Technology. In 1999, he was selected as the University of Regina Alumnus of the Year and as a Prairie Finalist in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. In 2005, Gary also received the Saskatchewan Centennial Medal for his extensive community involvement.

In 2004, the ISIS Canada Research Network announced the $5,000 annual, Gary Bosgoed Scholarship for Aboriginals in Engineering.  Gary is currently a Director and Vice-Chair of the Keyano College Foundation, Norquest College Advisory Council, Founder of the Alberta Aboriginal Construction Careers Program, a member of the University of Alberta Water Advisory Board, and Chair of the Capital Region United Way Campaign.

He is also the Executive Sponsor of the WorleyParsons Women of WorleyParsons (WoW) committee and a member of the WorleyParsons Global Diversity and Inclusion Council.
