George Smith, Fellow of Queen's University School of Policy Studies will be presenting " The Fragile Future of Free Collective Bargaining in Canada".

His responsibilities have included labour relations; compensation & benefits; organizational development & training; health & safety; crisis management; corporate governance and HR/IR Policy.

He has negotiated over 100 collective agreements with, among others, the Canadian Media Guild (CMG), the Communication, Energy and Paperworkers Union (CEP), the Canadian Auto Workers Union (CAW), the Teamsters Union, The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) and the Canadian Airline Pilots Association (CALPA). He retired in 2010 as a Senior Vice-President at CBC/Radio-Canada after fourteen years during which he was initially responsible for HR/IR and latterly responsible for the IT, Broadcast Technology and Real Estate functions.
