5 Days for the Homeless

Sun., Mar. 13, 2022 5:00 p.m. - Fri., Mar. 18, 2022 5:00 p.m.

Location: Nationwide

5 Days for the Homeless is a campaign that was started at the University of Alberta in 2005. Since then, the campaign has spread nationwide with the mission being to generate awareness about homelessness and raise funds for local charities. During this event, student participants forgo their basic necessities for five days, in hopes of stimulating conversations about homelessness. Since its inception, this movement has expanded to a national campaign with 19 other universities throughout Canada. The Hill Business Students' Society (and the University of Regina) have been part of the campaign since 2010.

This year's event runs from March 13th – 18th with the campus-wide goal being to raise $50,000, with all funds going to Carmichael Outreach.

Carmichael Outreach is a non-profit organization in Regina. They offer emergency services and long-term supports with a goal to end the chronic experiences of poverty and homelessness in our city. Carmichael focuses on strong community values including respect, dignity and empowerment.
