Request for Classes from other Institutions (Letter of Permission)

Students in the Hill School of Business in the Faculty of Business Administration may complete courses at other institutions, however, prior permission must be granted. Permission will typically be considered in the following circumstances:

  1. The student is in the last 30 credit hours of their program and the course is not offered in the semester that they are able to take it (with a clear rationale provided).
  2. The student is on a co-op work term outside of Regina and wishes to take a course toward their BBA and that course is not offered remotely.
  3. Other exceptional circumstances*.

*If you as the student believe you fall under “other exceptional circumstances” please contact your academic advisor for more information and guidance.

Hill students wishing to take courses at other institutions are required to be in good standing (academically and financially) and must make a written email request for permission to take the course(s), provide a course description(s) to the Faculty for evaluation, and should not register for the course until written permission has been provided.

Students requesting permission (or that are granted permission) must abide by all prerequisite rules and course sequencing as per the Hill School of Business program. Additionally, the University of Regina’s course limit per semester must also be followed and includes both our courses and those approved to be taken from another institution.

Students are required to achieve a minimum grade of 10 grade points above the institution’s passing grade in a course in order to receive transfer credit.

There is a $30 fee charged per class a student is granted to take at another institution (ex. 2 classes would be a $60 fee). It is also the student’s responsibility to request transcripts from other institutions to be sent directly to the Admissions Office once they have completed the courses and received final grades.
