Study at FH Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences in Bielefeld, Germany

DATES

The program runs from May 9 to June 20, 2020 (including arrival and departure dates). Students are required to be in attendance from the first day of classes to the last day of exams, and must attend all Orientation/Welcome, Opening/Closing Ceremony and field trip events that are pre-planned by the Host University.

Registration for this program is by selection process only. Please DO NOT make any travel arrangements or book any flights until AFTER your acceptance to participate in the program has been confirmed.

A maximum of 4 students will be approved to participate in this program.


REQUIREMENTS

The requirements to participate are as follows:

  • students must be in the Paul J. Hill School of Business as of Winter 2020
  • students must have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours prior to the Study Abroad program, and must be in a minimum of 9 credit hours (or a Co-op workterm) for Winter 2020.
  • students must have a minimum GPA of 70% at time of application (averages between 68 and 69.99% may be considered, providing space is available)
  • students must be in good standing at the UofR - both academically and financially (not negotiable/no exceptions)
  • preference will be given to students who have space within their degree/diploma programs for transfer credit for the courses to be taken in Germany (students who hope to take the program as "extra" credit (i.e., not transferrable to their program) may be considered, providing space is available)
  • students must return to the UofR for at least one course in a semester following the Study Abroad program
  • students must meet with Wendy Tebb to discuss how/if courses will transfer into their Hill degree or diploma program (students are advised to do this before applying to for any Study Abroad program).

COSTS

The charge to enroll in this program is $1,800 Cdn (payable to the UofR as a program fee attached to the required SEP course registration). This program fee covers – course tuition (for 2 courses and labs), well-equipped dormitory-style accommodations in city centre from May 9 to June 20, 2020, insurance package, field trips to Frankfurt, Berlin, Rotterdam, The Hague and Amsterdam, company visits, cultural program, local transportation pass, admin support and personal mentoring program.

Participants are eligible for a $1,000 Global Experience Scholarship.

Meals, flights, airport transfers and other travel expenses are not included; students are responsible for booking and paying for their own flights and making their own arrangements as needed. Students will be requested to coordinate travel arrangements with other participants.


COURSES

Students will take 2 courses during this 6-week program. Students would receive transfer credit for 2 courses in their BBA or DipBA program, providing appropriate grades are achieved.

Course offerings in Germany will be:

  • European Culture/Cross Cultural Management (transfers as IS 200LV)
  • European Politics and Business (transfers as IS 200LV)

DEADLINE

The application deadline is 9:00 AM on Thursday, January 30, 2020. Your completed application must be submitted to Wendy Tebb, ED 512.7, or by email to Wendy.Tebb@uregina.ca, before the deadline. A maximum of 4 students can participate; therefore, not all students who apply will be selected to participate. DO NOT book any travel arrangements until you find out you have been selected to participate.
