What was the highlight of the trip?

The Highlight of my trip was when the group of us went to Beijing. We were able to experience and tour so many amazing places. The Great Wall of China and Forbidden Cities are places you see in movies, and never think you will have the opportunity to see, but this trip allows for that. I can only say so much about how great these places are, you really do have to see it for yourself. The explanations and pictures really don’t do justice.

What did you learn or what was your key take-away?

My biggest take away from this whole experience was to take advantage of opportunities like this. They provide you with a new perspective about people and different cultures of the world. Coming back and being back in school I feel like a have a new understanding and appreciation for the exchange students who come to the U of R. This trip is something every student should experience; they won’t regret it.

Why would you recommend others take this opportunity?

I would highly recommend others take this opportunity. It has been the highlight of my university career thus far. You get the opportunity to experience an entirely new culture and language. If what’s holding you back is the fact that you may not know anyone else going, don’t let it. When I signed up for this opportunity I only knew one of the other people going. I think what made this trip so amazing was getting to meet so many new people.
