Study at University of Strathclyde Business School in Glasgow, Scotland

DATES

The program runs from June 28 to July 17 or 18, 2020 (including arrival and departure dates). Students are required to be in attendance from the first day of classes to the last day of exams, and must attend all Orientation/Welcome, Opening/Closing Ceremony and field trip events that are pre-planned by the Host University.

Registration for this program is by selection process only. Please DO NOT make any travel arrangements or book any flights until AFTER your acceptance to participate in the program has been confirmed.

A maximum of 10 students will be approved to participate in this program.

 

REQUIREMENTS

The requirements to participate are as follows:

  • students must be in the Paul J. Hill School of Business as of Winter 2020
  • students must have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours prior to the Study Abroad program, and must be in a minimum of 9 credit hours (or a Co-op workterm) for Winter 2020.
  • students must have a minimum GPA of 70% at time of application (averages between 68 and 69.99% may be considered, providing space is available)
  • students must be in good standing at the UofR - both academically and financially (not negotiable/no exceptions)
  • preference will be given to students who have space within their degree/diploma programs for transfer credit for the courses to be taken in Scotland (students who hope to take the program as "extra" credit (i.e., not transferrable to their program) may be considered, providing space is available)
  • students must return to the UofR for at least one course in a semester following the Study Abroad program
  • students must meet with Wendy Tebb to discuss how/if courses will transfer into their Hill degree or diploma program (students are advised to do this before applying to for any Study Abroad program).

COSTS

The charge to enroll in this program is $2,900 Cdn (payable to the UofR as a program fee attached to the required SEP course registration). This program fee covers – course tuition (for one course only), university campus self-catering accommodations a short walk from the Business School (your own room within a shared accommodation) from June 28 to July 17/18, field trips and scheduled activities.

Participants are eligible for $2,000 of Global Experience Scholarship funds.

Meals, flights, airport transfers, health insurance and other travel expenses are not included; students are responsible for booking and paying for their own flights and making their own arrangements as needed. Students will be requested to coordinate travel arrangements with other participants so that no one has to travel alone unless they wish to travel alone.

 

COURSES

Students will take 1 course during this 3-week program. Students would be eligible to receive transfer credit for 1 course in their BBA or DipBA program, providing appropriate grades are achieved. The course offered is:

  • Frontiers in Hospitality & Tourism Management (transfers as Bus 300LV elective)

DEADLINE

The application deadline is 9:00 AM on Thursday, January 30, 2020. Your completed application must be submitted to Wendy Tebb, ED 512.7, or by email to Wendy.Tebb@uregina.ca, before the deadline. A maximum of 10 students can participate; therefore, not all students who apply will be selected to participate. DO NOT book any travel arrangements until you find out you have been selected to participate.
