Fraudsters & Scams - Keep Informed!
We regularly screen for fraudulent employment, internship and volunteer posting. Occasionally, a few get through. As a job searcher and applicant, keep alert and informed on how to protect yourself from fraudsters. Here are some general guidelines:
- Don't give or send money to an employer for the purpose of continuing the hiring or placement process.
- When completing application forms, don't provide personal and financial information such as your date of birth and account numbers (e.g., credit cards and bank accounts).
- Looking for volunteer work? Research organizations well and check the accuracy of contact information. Closely assess any request for fees and personal information (e.g., birthdate, bank numbers).
- Don't cash cheques on behalf of an employer or organization--this is not a legitimate business practice.
