Youth Strings

About Our Classes

The Youth Strings Program (formerly Child/Parent Strings) offers the best in early string instruction under the leadership of instructors in our String Department.

Running as a supplement to Private Lessons in violin or cello, children start with one-on-one lessons then move into the group program when you are set-up with your instrument. Violin/Cello Group classes meet once a week for 45-minutes and encourage polishing performance pieces, reviewing repertoire, and building community. Classes also include a Theory/Musicianship section that teaches music theory basics. This is a family program, which means an adult (ex: parent, grandparent, or other adult caregiver) attends lessons and classes with your child. Family learning is the key to a successful start in learning violin or cello!

Once your child graduates out of this program they join the Conservatory Youth String Orchestra. Ask your instructor if the Conservatory Youth String Orchestra or the Youth Strings Program is right for them.

More class information can be found in our online registration system or by clicking on the course links below. Browse all of our registration options

It is recommend your child registers for Private Lessons at the Conservatory of Performing Arts to be involved in this program, as our instructors follow the same curriculum in their Private Lesson studios connected to this group class. You can register in Private Lessons at anytime of the year.
