Private Lesson Recitals

The Conservatory of Performing Arts has an extensive recital program available for ALL students studying in private lesson studios. Registration is free and accompaniment for recitals is provided at no extra charge for those needing an accompanist. Conservatory recitals run each year from from October - June. Recitals are a great opportunity to share repertoire with family and friends, help set achievable performing goals in lessons, and provide confidence by putting new performing skills into practice.

Recital COVID-19 Protocol & Procedures for Performers & Guests

In 2021-2022 recitals will be performed in-person at the Conservatory, with limited audience in attendance. All recitals will also be available via Zoom in CCE Community (anyone anywhere in the world with internet access can watch the event). Recitals will be recorded in Zoom and made available 1 week after the performance day in CCE Community. By agreeing to participate in a recital you are agreeing that you or your child will be recorded.

Before the Recital

All recital participants will receive an email from that includes the CCE Community Link and a Guest Access Password where the Zoom link will be housed. If you cannot find this link or password, please contact Student & Instructor Services Non-Credit. You are welcome to share this link and password in private messages or by e-mail to the family and friends you wish to invite, however we ask that you do NOT share this link and password publicly on social media. Thanks for your help and assistance in keeping the Zoom call safe from unwanted guests. Photo and step-by-step instructions about how to access the course in CCE Community as a guest is in this PDF: Guest Access to CCE Community.

Who to Invite to Come In-Person

Students can invite guests from their immediate bubble to attend their recital in-person. We are recommending no more than 4 people per performer, however, we recognize many families with small children may exceed this maximum for childcare purposes. Please ensure all family members are masked and are observing physical distancing (2 metres minimum) from other families while in the building, as well as, all guests are aware of current University protocols: COVID-19 Protocols at the Conservatory.

What to Do When You Arrive

When you arrive at the College Avenue Campus (2155 College Avenue) all students are asked to gather in or near CB 139 (Multipurpose Room, ground level, west side of buidling) before the recital. Students will perform in CB 210 (Lecture Hall, second floor, east side of building) with their chosen family and friends as audience members in the room. All other students and audience members will be able to watch the recital from room CB 139.

Alternatively, you can choose to wait in your vehicle or anywhere else in the College Building and use the link and password sent to you in the e-mail to access the Zoom call. The University has free Wi-Fi available for your convenience (join the network: uofrGuest). Wait for you or your child’s name to be called by the host then go up to CB 210 with your guests.

CB 210 can be accessed via the large staircase on the west side (outside of CB 139) or via elevator access to the 2nd Floor. When on the second floor head east across the bridge and down the hallway until you reach 210.

During the Recital

At the beginning of the recital the host will invite the first two performers and their guests to come to CB 210. The first performer and their guests will enter CB 210 and get settled while the second performer and their guests will wait in the hall outside of CB 210.

As the first performer leaves CB 210, instruments and music stands are sanitized, and the second performer and their guests enter CB 210, the host will invite the next performer and their guests to come upstairs.

When your performance is finished, you and your guests are invited to return to CB 139 to view the remainder of the recital.

The only people allowed in CB 210 while you or your child is performing are the guests you have invited, the recital host, and the accompanist, if needed. As much as possible, we will schedule siblings back-to-back to avoid additional transition time for guests to go in and out of CB 210.

If You Arrive Late

If you arrive late or if you think you missed your performance call time, please join the Zoom call and send a chat message to the recital host. You can also go to CB 139 and our student assistant will be available in this room. The recital host or our student assistant will be able to advise if we can get you or your child to join later in the program or if your call time has not come up yet. Please do NOT enter CB 210 as you may disturb the current performer.
