
A Conversation with Norman Yeung, Author of 'Theory'
Norman is a writer, actor, and visual artist whose work is devoted to creating opportunities for underrepresented people. His plays include Aging Youth Gang (Crow’s Theatre commission), Eunuch X Pirate (Playwright in Residence at Outside the March, Tyrone Guthrie Award recipient at Stratford Festival), Theory (premiered at Tarragon Theatre and Mosaic Theater Company of Washington, D.C., Voaden Prize winner, Carol Bolt Award nominee, published by Playwrights Canada Press), and Pu-Erh (four Dora Award nominations including Outstanding New Play, Voaden Prize finalist). He was a finalist for the Johanna Metcalf Performing Arts Prize.
He has performed at Stratford Festival, Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, Canadian Stage, Theatre Calgary, Citadel Theatre, Touchstone Theatre, Theatre Orangeville, Drayton Entertainment, Thousand Islands Playhouse, Theatre Conspiracy, Vancouver Asian Canadian Theatre, and more. Favourite screen roles include Resident Evil: Afterlife and Todd and the Book of Pure Evil.
He holds a BFA in Acting/Theatre from University of British Columbia and a BFA (Honours) in Film from Toronto Metropolitan University. Norman was born in Guangzhou, grew up in East Vancouver, and is based in Toronto.
