Eligibility

To be considered eligible for support, as of the application deadline date, you must: Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada or Protected Person under subsection 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada).

If you are not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada or protected person under subsection 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada), you must be enrolled in your doctoral program of study at an eligible Canadian institution by the application deadline.

Note: You may submit only one application per year to one granting agency (NSERC or CIHR or SSHRC).

You can apply a maximum of three times to the CGSRS-D program.

Indigenous students are strongly encouraged to self declare on their application as they can be nominated over and above our quota.

TRANSCRIPTS: You MUST SUBMIT UP TO DATE, OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS with your application.  Order ALL of your undergraduate and graduate transcripts as soon as possible from every university that you have attended, including the University of Regina (even if this is your first semester). You must include all Transfer Credit also. Transcripts must be submitted with your application by the deadline, in order to be considered.

If you have attended universities outside of North America, please formally request your international transcripts TWO weeks in advance by emailing graduate.studies@uregina.ca  for the Request for Transcripts other than University of Regina form. You will need to explain why you require this form. Then once filled in please email the transcript request to Graduate.Studies@uregina.ca and cc: grad.funding@uregina.ca. Late requests (less than 2 weeks notice) cannot be granted.

The Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research (FGSR) will award the top three ranked applications with a $500 FGSR Scholarly Award.
