UofR Emergency Wardens

UofR Emergency Wardens are trained to assist the Emergency Operations Centre Group (Emergency Management Committee), Protective Services, and outside agencies (Regina Police Services/Regina Fire & Protection Services) in the event of a campus emergency. The resources provided here will educate newly appointed Emergency Wardens or be a refresher to existing Emergency Wardens on fire prevention measures and how to identify hazards in their assigned building, as well as how to use fire protection equipment (fire extinguishers), and coordinate safe building evacations.

If you have any questions about these documents or require more information regarding your role as Emergency Warden, please contact the Health, Safety & Emergency Management Advisor, Emily PIlon, at (306) 585-5487 or by email at emily.pilon@uregina.ca

This Quick Guide provides Emergency Wardens with essential information and step by step actions required during a campus building evacuation.  Use it as a reliable reference to stay organized, act quickly, and help ensure the safety of everyone in your building.

UofR Evacuation Assembly Points

During a building evacuation, always remember to:
  • SAFELY assist those in your building/floor to the designated evacuation assembly point.
  • WAIT for instructions from emergency responders.
  • DO NOT re-enter the building until you have been given an "all-clear" from emergency responders and/or Protective Services.

Refusal to Evacuate Guide

Evacuating a building during a fire alarm is required by law however, there may be times when an individual(s) may refuse to evacuate.

The Refusal to Evacuate Guide provides Emergency Wardens with key reminders and core principles to use should an individual(s) refuse to evacuate during a drill.
