Travel & Fieldwork Safety
The University of Regina supports a wide range of travel and off‑campus activities, from conferences and meetings to fieldwork, teaching, and research conducted outside the University’s geographic boundaries.
Not all travel is considered fieldwork, but all travel carries some level of risk. Whether you are travelling within Saskatchewan, within Canada, or internationally, the resources provided here are designed to help you plan safely, assess risks, and prepare appropriately before you go.
Travel includes activities such as conferences, meetings, academic exchanges, and other University‑related trips that do not involve organized research, teaching, or study activities at an off‑campus site.
Fieldwork typically involves research, teaching, or study conducted at off‑campus locations and may involve additional hazards due to location, environment, activities, or duration.
Regardless of the type of travel, all travellers share a responsibility for planning safely and considering how risks can be reduced.
Plan Your Travel Safely
Before travelling on University‑related business, all travellers are strongly encouraged to take time to consider their destination, planned activities, and any factors that could affect their health, safety, or well‑being.
