Simon is interested in establishing the benefits of Nursing education in French in the context of language minorities in the Canadian prairies. Simon is also interested in researching the impacts of language and communication barriers on providing quality primary and nursing care.About
Simon Ntumba Makubudi is a bilingual (French and English) Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner (RN (NP)) who completed post-secondary education in English, starting with English as a second language (ESL). He works as a bilingual instructor at the Faculty of Nursing of the UofR and an NP in primary care with the SHA.
Simon has experience in acute inpatient care nursing, including internal medicine, general surgery, neurosciences units, as well as home care. He has also taught clinical and classroom courses in the practical nursing program.
Ultimate goal
Simon’s ultimate goal is to pursue a doctorate and build a career in research.
Professional aspirations
Simon’s professional aspirations include promoting primary and nursing care in the Canadian national languages.
Biggest achievement
Simon is a Lexicon member with the NCBSN and has participated in Canadian French Lexicon Panels for the NCLEX since 2021. He has participated in developing and publishing a translation lexicon for standardization and transparency.
