Megan Zak is a Winner of the 2026-27 Lieutenant Governor's Award

Biology PhD student Megan Zak has won of two Lieutetnant Governor's Awards for 2026-27. Megan's research focusses on how bacteria persist in agricultural environments, and how traits such as bacterial antibiotic resistance spread among livestock. She works in the U of R's Institute for Microbial Systems and Society (IMSS), and is supervised by Dr. Andrew Cameron. More information about the award is available here.
Megan is the second IMSS PhD student in two years to have won the award, with Laura Schnell (also supervised by Andrew Cameron) having won the 2025-26 award.
