Organizations

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Regina is a member of the worldwide computing community. We are proud to be associated with the following organizations.

CACS/AIC The Department of Computer Science at the University of Regina is a member of the Canadian Association of Computer Science / Association d'Informatique Canadienne (CACS/AIC). CACS/AIC is the national association of Computer Science departments. It coordinates national efforts to set standards for Computer Science, to represent Canadian computer scientists internationally, to inform the public about Computer Science, to provide outreach materials describing Computer Science to youth, and to inform policy makers on matters related to Computer Science.
CIPS The Department of Computer Science is associated with the Canadian Information Processing Society's (CIPS) Computer Science Accreditation Council (CSAC). The CSAC works with academic institutions to ensure that educational programs prepare students for the demands of the Computing and Information Systems profession.
CSTA The Department of Computer Science is an institutional member of the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA). The CSTA is a membership organization that supports and promotes the teaching of computer science and other computing disciplines. It provides opportunities for K-12 teachers and students to better understand the computing disciplines and to more successfully prepare themselves to teach and to learn. It also aims diverisfy participation in Computer Science and to provide a bridge between high school educators, university educators, and the high tech industry.
FIRST FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) engages kids, ages 6-18, with robotics as a way to show students of every age that science, technology, and problem-solving are not only fun and rewarding, but are proven paths to successful careers and engaged citizenship. As part of the Faculty of Science, the Department of Computer Science partners with FIRST to deliver the FIRST LEGO League Saskatchewan Provincial Championship (for kids in Grades 4-8, ages 9-14).
MSI The Department of Computer Science sponsors technologically oriented camps for youth provided by Mentor Systems Inc. (MSI). MSI is a member-based organization registered as a non-profit corporation in Saskatchewan, Canada. MSI was formed by volunteer camp-staff who were counsellors and mentors at the various annual computer camps. MSI has the mandate of providing technological opportunities for youth.
WI Consortium Several faculty members in our department are affiliated with the Web Intelligence Consortium, which is an international, non-profit organization dedicated to advancing world-wide scientific research and industrial development in the field of Web Intelligence, which combines artificial intelligence and web-based information technology.
