CS researchers publish two papers in AAAI 2019

Researchers in the Computer Science Department have had two papers accepted to a premier forum for artificial intelligence research. The thirty-third AAAI conference on artificial intelligence (AAAI 2019) is being held 27 January - 1 February, 2019 in Honolulu, USA.

Dr. Sandra Zilles co-authored "On the Optimal Efficiency of Cost-Algebraic A*" with Dr. Rob Holte of the University of Alberta. Dr. Zilles is a Canada Research Chair and this is her second AAAI conference paper. Dr. Holte is an adjunct professor in the Computer Science Department.

Mr. Jhonatan Oliveira, Mr. Andre dos Santos, and Mr. Andre Lobo Teixeira, along with their supervisor, Dr. Cory Butz, co-authored "Deep Convolutional Sum-Product Networks". Mr. Oliveira and Mr. dos Santos are doctoral students, while Mr. Lobo Teixeira is a Masters student. This is the first AAAI conference publication exclusively having University of Regina authors.

AAAI 2019 had a record number of submissions (7095) and a historically low acceptance rate (16.2%). Congratulations to all!
