Title:  The Gelfand representation of an abelian Banach Algebra

Abstract:

Using homomorphisms and the weak-* topology alongside certain results on abelian Banach algebras, we can characterize any abelian Banach algebra as an algebra of continuous functions on a locally compact Hausdorff space. This will allow us to provide simplified proofs for complicated results, such as those on Fourier series.
