Rebuilding and Finding Meaning in a Digital Era: How Online Activity Affects Women Experiencing Reproductive Loss
Jenna Corcoran will present her MSW thesis on exploring how women use online spaces following reproductive loss. Using a qualitative narrative inquiry approach, the research examined how social media and digital communities can support meaning-making, identity reconstruction, and connection during grief. The findings highlighted the complex and purposeful ways women curate online engagement, not only to challenge dominant narratives around loss, but also to reconcile co-existing identities and experiences of motherhood, grief, and resilience. Exploring the Experiences of Substance Use Professionals in Recovery
Saskatchewan Health ResearchFoundation [SHRF] supported the study led by Gabriela Novotna, which explored lived experience of substance use and recovery among addiction counsellors in Saskatchewan. Twenty-two participants shared how burnout and stigma in small rural recovery networks often blurred personal and professional boundaries. Participants emphasized the importance of personal growth and experiential knowledge in sustaining the quality of their work; many of them considered personal and professional well-being an individual responsibility, and self-care (e.g. personal hobbies and lifestyle choices) as an antidote against a lack of organizational support, training, or acknowledgement of systemic challenges. More details to come...
