Campus feels a bit bigger at the start of a new semester, but you don’t have to wander far to find your place. Whether you’re cramming for finals, catching up with friends, or just looking for a comfy place to sit, the U of R is full of hidden gems. Plus, many spots are new or improved thanks to renovation projects that wrapped over the summer. Here’s your guide to the best of them.
Riddell Commons
Bench, booth, or tabletop, the Riddell Commons has it all. With fresh renovations, new food options, and plenty of space, you’re going to want to stay awhile.

Lab Commons and Patio
Tucked away in the Laboratory Building, Lab Commons is a student favourite with group tables, plug-in stations, and easy access to Trifon’s Pizza. It’s equal parts study zone and social hub, with an outdoor patio that makes it a go-to in warmer months.

Dr. John Archer Library
Your cozy corner away from it all. Settle in with your favourite drink from Starbucks, flip open a book or laptop and unwind.

AdHum Pit
This iconic gathering place re-opened this September and is more versatile than ever before. Flexible seating makes it perfect for solo study sessions or larger hangouts. It’s also fully accessible with a new ramp and accessible and gender-neutral washrooms nearby.

Education Circle
The Education Building is home to one of campus’s best-kept secrets, a little oasis to de-stress, recharge, and get work done between classes.
