Email Correspondance with Fall Graduands
September 13, 2021
We want to recognize our Fall 2021 graduates in a way we couldn’t for the last two years – with a small in-person Convocation ceremony on Friday, October 22, 2021.
Safety is important to us. The University of Regina is making decisions based on the latest public health information. To that end, barring any new public health measures, and provided the University deems it is safe to do so in October, we would like to invite our newest graduates to join us in person to walk across the stage.
The ceremony will take place at the University of Regina’s main campus:
Friday, October 22, 2021 at 2 p.m.
Gym 3, Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport (CKHS)
The event is for graduates only, with a live feed of the ceremony so family and friends can watch and cheer on the graduates from a distance, in the comfort of their homes.
Joined by our new President, Dr. Jeff Keshen, and a small platform party, we will celebrate completion of University of Regina degrees, diplomas and certificates.
The University of Regina recognizes that vaccines are the safest and most effective defence against COVID-19, and introduced vaccination requirements for its campus community on August 13, 2021. For the Convocation event to proceed as safely as possible:
- All graduates in attendance will be required to provide proof of full vaccination, or provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result;
- All graduates will need to remain masked throughout the ceremony;
- Physical distancing measures will be maintained; and
- Sanitizing stations will be available.
For those graduates unable to travel or uncomfortable with attendance at an in-person event, we invite their attendance virtually as well and will provide a link prior to the event. We will also be sending those who are unable to attend a Convocation package containing parchments, a souvenir program including the names and credentials of all graduates, and other mementos. These should be received in late October or early November.
More information will be provided in the coming weeks, including attendance confirmation and related proof of vaccination. Please monitor your uregina.ca or preferred email account you have provided to the University through your UR Self-Service Account. Additional information will also be posted on our website at www.urconvocation.ca.
