Letters of Invitation to Convocation

If your family would like to vist you in Canada to attend your convocation, they will need to apply for a Temporary Resident Visa or an Electronic Travel Authorization to travel to Canada (unless otherwise exempted). To find out what documentation is needed for them to visit Canada, go to the Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada's website:

https://www.canada.ca/en/services/immigration-citizenship.html

Canadian Citizen and Permanent Resident Students

One of the requirements is a letter of invitation. This letter must be written by you.  For more information on what to include in the letter, refer to:

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/visit-canada/letter-invitation.html

University of Regina International Students (URI)

If you are an International student, fill out the invitation letter request form at the URI website: https://www.uregina.ca/international/current/services/invitation-letter-form.html

IMPORTANT:

  • It is your responsibility to apply well in advance of convocation (future ceremony dates are posted at least a year in advance).
  • Once you have been awarded a credential, the ceremony you are approved to attend cannot be changed.
  • A letter of invitation does not guarantee that Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada will issue a visa.
