Tutoring Appointments and Information

To Access our Online Writing Resources, Please Click Here.

The Student Success Centre offers free writing support to students at all levels and in all disciplines.

At any stage of your writing process, our online resources and tutoring services can help you. We believe that with our writing support, students can recognize themselves as writers – and, in turn, become more confident in their abilities as students.

Please note, our tutors support your writing process but are not copy editors. They will offer advice and teach you how to be a better writer. Tutors will point out grammatical or stylistic problems, especially pattern errors in punctuation, spelling, and word choice. They will explain the principle, or refer you to a handout or webpage. Students are then responsible for making the changes.

IMPORTANT:

Spring/Summer tutoring is now over for the term. We will resume September 14, 2020.

Writing tutoring for Fall 2020 will be available via Zoom, and over email.

Zoom Tutoring:

For a Zoom appointment, click here. If you've never used our service before, you will need to sign up for an account.

Once you have made your appointment, you will be emailed a Zoom meeting ID. Just before your appointment time, enter the ID into Zoom to join the meeting. If the tutor is ready, you’ll be let into the meeting right away. If the tutor is still busy with the student ahead of you, you will be placed in the waiting room until the tutor opens the meeting.

Please make sure that the name you make your appointment under is also your Zoom display name, so that the tutor knows who you are.

As you are preparing for your appointment, make sure you have a laptop with a webcam enabled, and have your paper up on your screen. You will need to share your screen with the tutor, and you should be prepared to scroll through your paper as the tutor requests.

Recording of Zoom meetings with tutors will not be allowed, so please make sure you have a notebook and a pen with you during your meeting to use to take notes.

If you are having problems with Zoom or your connectivity, you can refer to this troubleshooting  document created by Zoom <https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/206175806#h_8f38d3af-506f-4c33-8269-4b649d5c1aee>. If this document doesn’t help, please call Information Services for help at 306-585-4685.

Email Tutoring:

Tutoring is also available via email at writing@uregina.ca, though students are encouraged to make a Zoom tutoring appointment if possible. If you are submitting your paper to this email address, please allow 2-3 business days for a reply.

Q and A Drop in Hours:

If you have a quick question (not a paper for review) you can also visit our Q and A drop-in hours, which are:

Friday 11:00am-1:00pm
https://uregina-ca.zoom.us/j/91490086207

Note: Drop in hours are for questions only (about formatting, citation, assignments, how to get started on your work and so on). Full paper review will not take place during drop-in hours.
