Taking courses online continues to be a practical and engaging way for you to learn with the University of Regina. Your courses are as flexible as you need!

Stay on campus and not leave your room or live in the city and skip the drive. You can live in Saskatchewan, or across the world, and still take U of R courses.

Combine highly interactive, instructor led online courses with in-person and other delivery modes to make your schedule work for you.

Find online courses that fit into your schedule with the live course listing or talk to an advisor.

I love the online courses the U of R offers because I can work, see friends and family and travel (when safe to do so), all while taking classes.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between online (web), hybrid and hyflex courses?

To make learning more accessible, the University has been working hard to add more remote learning options for students. These are the three types of remotely delivered courses:

  1. Online (Web) – Created in collaboration with our own Instructional Design team, online courses have gone through a rigorous development process. They are delivered using UR Courses and have many multi-media enhancements.
  2. Hybrid – Delivered in a combination of on-site and remote, you’ll find two sections for the course – “Hybrid – on-site classroom” and “Hybrid – remote”. Choose which delivery mode you want when you register.
  3. Hyflex – Perhaps the most flexible, is “Hyflex” delivery where you can choose to attend class on-site or remotely each week.
What’s it like to take an online course?

Online courses are taught through UR Courses, a learning platform which is your hub for all course lectures, notes, assignments, quizzes, exams, etc. You will be able to interact with your professor and fellow students using discussion forums and email.

Can I study at my own pace?

Some online courses are asynchronous meaning you don’t have to be in class at a designated time while some are synchronous with set lecture times just like an in-person class. Often, online courses have a combination of independent learning where you work at your own pace or watch recorded lectures and live class lectures where you login on a specific day and time.

With all online courses, it’s important you pay attention to assignment due dates, class meeting times and exam dates.

TIP: Add all these dates to your personal calendar at the beginning of the class to stay organized!

Are there other ways I can take courses to fit my schedule?

Yes! By combining online, in-person and other flexible course delivery options, you can make your schedule work for your busy life.

  • Evenings
