In His Studio:

Miles teaches trumpet with the Conservatory. Lessons with Miles cost $63 per hour of instruction. He is accepting students at this time. Miles will teach students of any age, but expects that most are likely to start around age 10, and he will teach any level of student. In Miles’s studio, students are encouraged to work towards exams, participate in recitals, and participate in Music Festival. He teaches any genre of music. Miles requires students to supply their own trumpet by the second lesson, books/music, and his practice policy depends on the student and their goals. Miles’ ideal student is one who wants to play the trumpet. Lessons are catered to the individual student.

Biography:

Miles Newman is the Principal Trumpet of the Regina Symphony Orchestra and Solo Trumpet of the Regina Symphony Chamber Players. Miles is presently the Head of Winds & Brass at the Conservatory of Performing Arts, University of Regina where he teaches the trumpet studio and is the trumpet instructor for the Department of Music, University of Regina.

Miles has studied with Lawrence House (UofS), David Hickman (ASU) and worked with Armando Ghitalla, Allan Dean, Robert Nagel and Anthony Plog at The Banff Centre and returned to The Banff Centre as a performer for the 2008 ITG conference hosted by Jens Lindemann.
