Voice and Choir

About Our Classes

One of the best ways to develop your singing voice is to be part of a choir. Even before taking Private Lessons in voice, singers in a choir learn basic breath control and tone matching. Choir provides an excellent musical education along with fostering teamwork and building confidence.

If you are interested in one-on-one voice lessons for you or your child, we recommend trying Private Lessons.

Adult Choir

This fun and relaxed singing environment will introduce you to the basics of music, singing in unison and, eventually, singing in 3-part harmony. This choir is suitable for experienced vocalists or singers looking for a casual vocal group to join. You will improve your singing skills with a friendly community of adult learners. The choir year runs from September - beginning of May and the group takes a break in December and returns at the end of January. This choir is directed by Lori Potter.

Prairie Kids Chorus

The Prairie Kids Chorus welcomes new students, as well as, old students from Sweet Sounds and the Juventus Choir as we join together to discover the joys of singing. The choir includes learning to sing in unison and by rote for the youngest singers. This is an introductory choir where children will learn to match pitch and discover the joy of singing together. Singers who would like to expand their knowledge join the Prairie Kids Chorus PLUS group to stay later after rehearsals to learn more about part singing and music theory. The choir is directed by Allison Luff.

University Chamber Choir

The University Chamber Singers is an elite multi-award winning 28 voice ensemble open to University students and adult community members which focuses on a cappella choral repertoire. Entrance is by audition only with heavy emphasis on sight-singing ability. Please contact Melissa Morgan to book an audition for admittance to the ensemble. Singers must prepare an art song or aria for the audition.

University Concert Choir

All University students and adult community members are welcome to sing in the University Concert Choir, a dynamic ensemble of approximately 75 singers. The choir's programming spans a wide range of genres and styles with regular performances with orchestra. All members are required to meet with the instructor in the first weeks of the terms for a voice placement.

Please contact Melissa Morgan to book an interview for admittance into the choir.
