Anna Norris

Conservatory Instructor

Bassoonist Anna Norris studied at McGill University under Stephane Levesque and Martin Mangrum. Music has taken her all around Canada: as a student, she was privileged to attend three summer sessions on tour around the country with the National Youth Orchestra. While still studying at McGill, she won the Principal Bassoon position with the Niagara Symphony in St. Catherine’s, Ontario; upon graduating, she headed north for a leave replacement contract with the Thunder Bay Symphony. Then she travelled all around Southern Ontario to freelance with numerous ensembles including the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra, and Windsor Symphony Orchestra; and now to Saskatchewan, where she is currently the Principal Bassoon of the Regina Symphony Orchestra and Regina Chamber Players. As well as her travels around Canada, Anna also had the honour of traveling to Bangalore, India as a member of the Canada-India Youth Orchestra Project.

Beyond music, Anna devotes her free time to practicing artistic gymnastics (it's not just for kids), lifting weights, and making sourdough bread. As a teacher, she is passionate about helping students find a balanced and positive approach to music and life.
