Christie Schultz is the Dean of the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) at the University of Regina and a passionate proponent of lifelong learning. In this role, she provides leadership for CCE’s flexible learning division; English as a second language programs; the conservatory of performing arts; career and professional development programs; and the Lifelong Learning Centre.

Prior to joining the University of Regina community in 2020, Dr. Schultz served as the Assistant Dean (Academic) at the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Extension. In this role, she led the Faculty’s continuing education (CE) portfolio as well as its Learning Engagement Office (LEO), a team of eLearning specialists and instructional designers who share her commitment to high-quality, accessible, innovative, and learner-centered education.

Having joined the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Extension in 2008, first as an instructional designer and then, from 2009, as Executive Director of LEO, before taking on the role of Assistant Dean (Academic) in 2014, Dr. Schultz has spent the past decade building experience and expertise as a leader in continuing education. Actively involved in the Canadian Association for University Continuing Education (CAUCE), she currently serves on the national executive as the representative for Western Canada.

Before coming to the field of continuing education, Dr. Schultz worked in the world of web communications and strategy. She holds a PhD in educational policy studies, an MA in English, as well as an MBA in public policy and management from the University of Alberta. Her scholarly interests include experiences and practices of leadership in higher education, care ethics in leadership, and qualitative research methodologies, especially narrative inquiry.
