Important Notice - BIG Book Sale 2020 Cancelled

Sadly, the Big Book Sale coordinating team has decided to cancel this year's Big Book Sale.  Given the issues surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic, and the difficulties that we would encounter regarding physical distancing and other important protocols, we feel it would be impossible to have the sale and still keep volunteers and customers safe.

To the great people who have supported us so loyally in past years, we hope to be back stronger and bigger in 2021. The dates have already been booked for the second week in August.

The Seniors University Group mission is to promote the value and availability of lifelong learning opportunities for older learners in the community in collaborative partnership with the Lifelong Learning Centre. Those wishing to receive SUG rates for Lifelong Learning Centre courses must be current members of the Seniors’ University Group.

SUG membership is open to those 50 years of age and over who pay the reduced annual membership fee of $5 (regular $30) for the year April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021. This fee is reduced thanks to revenue earned at the Big Book Sale last year. You can join or update your membership online or by phone to receive SUG membership benefits including:

  • Lower fees for daytime LLC courses
  • Eligible to apply for SUG Bursary to make LLC courses more affordable for those who need assistance to take courses - SUG Bursary Application Form  or call 306-585-5748
  • Live & Learn newsletter
  • Invitations to special lectures and social events
  • Participation in active Committees and the SUG Board
  • Access to University of Regina libraries at no charge

For borrowing privileges to U of R libraries, you need to bring your SUG Membership Receipt to the Archer Library. Staff there will provide you with a Library Card to make it possible for you to borrow books.

The Seniors’ University Group has informal groups interested in doing things together including Gems of Regina Tours to places of interest in and around Regina. Email  if you would like information about upcoming tours or other events SUG has planned. Note tours are on hold until we can get together again.

SUG Memberships Make Great Gifts

If you are looking for a retirement or thank you gift for someone 50 years of age or older, why not get them a SUG Membership? They will receive program guides, newsletters, invitations to social and other special events, and all the other benefits listed above including lower fees for Lifelong Learning Centre courses.
