Field Courses
Some of our students obtain some of their biology credits by taking summer field courses off campus. These courses (typically three to six credit hours) give students experience and knowledge in a non-traditional learning environment, typically (but not exclusively) in the field of environmental science. Summer field courses are typically of three to six weeks in duration, and consist of a combination of field and laboratory work. A small research project is frequently part of the course. There is usually a final report and/or a final exam.
Many field courses offered by other universities are eligible as credit towards a Biology BSc degree at the University of Regina (most count as 300- or 400-level Biology courses). Please consult with the Associate Dean of Science, Academic (c/o the Faculty of Science Student Centre, LB 238, 306-585-4199, science@uregina.ca), prior to registration to ensure that a course(s) is eligible for University of Regina transfer credit. Note that transfer credit is normally granted only for courses in which the final grade is at least 60%.

There are many other field courses that are eligible for transfer credit, including many outside of Canada. Please consult with the Associate Dean of Science (Academic) about transfer credit eligibility for specific courses (book an appointment via the Science Academic Hub).
