Social Work Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) Info Session - Online

Tue., Feb. 8, 2022 2:30 p.m. - Tue., Feb. 8, 2022 4:00 p.m.

Location: Online

Contact: Social Work Student Services

BSW students who are considering applying for PLAR credit, especially for SW 348 (Practicum I) are strongly encouraged to attend.

Learning does not always take place in the classroom: it also happens on the job, at home, and in the community. The recognition of prior learning is a reliable process that takes into consideration all types of learning by examining what a person knows and can do.  Credit will only be awarded for demonstrated learning that includes knolwedge, skills and abilities.  It will not be awarded for experience alone.

This 1.5 hour session will cover topics including:

  • PLAR and the Bachelor of Social Work Program, with a particular focus on SW 348 Practicum I
  • Eligibility Criteria
  • Preparing and Applying for PLAR
  • Application Deadlines
