The University of Regina community comes together today to celebrate one of the most meaningful milestones in a student’s academic journey—graduation. The 2025 Fall Convocation also includes the installation of a new Chancellor, Cadmus Delorme, and the bestowing of an honorary degree on the Honourable Vaughn Solomon Schofield.
The event takes place in the Main Gym of the Centre for Kinesiology, Health, and Sport, where two ceremonies will recognize the accomplishments of 1,041 graduates who will collectively receive 1,095 degrees, diplomas, and certificates. These newest members of the University’s alumni family join a growing community of more than 95,000 graduates who continue to make an impact across Saskatchewan and beyond.
“Convocation is a day for reflection, for celebration, and for seeing the bright future that you have ahead,” said Dr. Jeff Keshen, U of R President and Vice-Chancellor. “While Convocation may mark the conclusion of your post-secondary journey, it also signifies the beginning of an exciting new chapter. Congratulations to each of our Fall 2025 graduates, and I wish you every success in the years to come.”
The morning ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m., with doors opening to guests at 8:30 a.m. The afternoon ceremony begins at 2 p.m., with doors opening at 12:45 p.m. Both ceremonies will be livestreamed on the University’s Facebook page, and recordings will be available online for those unable to attend in person.
Installation of Chancellor Cadmus Delorme
This morning ceremony marked an important moment in the University’s history—the installation of Cadmus Delorme as the University’s tenth Chancellor.
A nationally respected leader in Truth and Reconciliation, Chancellor Delorme brings to his new role a vision rooted in respect, understanding, and shared purpose—one that will guide the University toward continued growth and integrity in the years ahead.
“I could not be more proud to be sworn in as the next Chancellor of the University of Regina,” says Delorme. “I dedicate this role to my parents, and to every other parent or guardian who raised dreamers on this land that we all share. To all of our graduates, I hope you continue to use the teachings learned at this University and its associated colleges. You represent the principles, values, and pride to now walk forward with our shared motto, ‘As One Who Serves.’ Congratulations, you did it!”
Honorary Degree to the Honourable Vaughn Solomon Schofield
This afternoon’s ceremony features the bestowing of an Honorary Doctor of Laws upon the Honourable Vaughn Solomon Schofield, SOM, SVM, CD, a proud Reginan and former Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan. Known for her steadfast commitment to service and civic leadership, Ms. Solomon Schofield has dedicated her life to living her personal motto of “service before self.”
“Although I have been fortunate to receive many special awards and recognitions in my life, this is something extra special,” she says. “Both my father, George Solomon, and my sister, Adrian Burns, have been so honoured. Receiving an honorary degree from the University of Regina is both humbling and meaningful. Years ago, when my father received an honorary degree, I was unable to attend the ceremony. Now my fondest wish is that he is looking down at this recognition and is as proud of me as I was of him.”
